AFC 2010 draft thoughts.....

The NFL draft has come and gone so this blog is to welcome certain players to the League and look specifically at your favourite teams Division (this blog features AFC and there is also an NFC blog for this topic) and what future STUDS just entered your radar as far as a player you will see twice each year (Division foe) and hopefully someone will be mentioned from your fav team for you to throw your support behind......

*AFC EAST*

C.J. Spiller (is one of the smallest 1st round RB's in the past 10-15 years) going to Buffalo was a surprise as the Bills Offensive Line is so poor that the assumption was with all the OL talent available in the draft that Buffalo would surely start there. But instead with their first pick they take a Home Run hitter that can put a TD on the board asap with his 4.37 40-yard speed for this boring/predictable/stagnant offense

Rob Gronkowski (left) and Aaron Hernandez (right) -TE's drafted by New England.....We know that Tom Terrific can spread out the football to his WR group but in the Red Zone a Moss or a Welker are not as good an option for Brady as a physical pass-catching TE...Brady will be able to use at least one of these TE's as a new toy to use around the goaline for the Pats

Kyle Wilson - CB out of Boise State drafted by the New York J-E-T-S JETSJETSJETS....already stacked at CB with Derrelle Revis and newly acquired Antonio Cromartie the football Gods smiled on the Jets when talented and athletic CB Kyle Wilson was still somehow available for them at the #29 pick......Wilson could immediately replace traded Leon Washington as the Jets Kick Returner

*AFC WEST*

Rolando McClain (pictured above) - Inside LB - Alabama drafted #8 overall by the Raiders....wow - did the Raiders ever get this pick right....this guy looks like a major STUD and I am really happy for long-suffering Raiders fans as they have the potential to have had a very good draft this year

Forget Tim Tebow - already sick of him and his non-NFL talent....the Broncos didn't completely blow this years draft though as they did add WR Demaryious Thomas out of Georgia Tech.....if not for a foot injury this guy would have gone much higher then an already impressive #22 overall

Eric Berry (pic above) - Safety out of Tennessee drafted #5 overall by the KC Chiefs.....one of my fav players in the draft....next Ed Reed type of player.....big play type safety

Ryan Matthews - RB from Fresno State drafted by the SD Chargers...Raiders/Chiefs/Broncos fans all said GOOD RIDDANCE to LaDanian Tomlinson when he left this division a few months ago but don't look now as the Chargers have found a gifted/explosive/balanced RB in Matthews (39 TD's in NCAA career and entered draft as a junior)

*AFC NORTH*

Not only do the Ravens use 2010 picks to acquire WR Anquan Boldin but they still draft one of the best 3-4 Outside LB's in the draft in Sergio Kindle from Texas....for a defence in desperate need of a talented youth-injection this guy fills the bill....

Jermaine Graham - TE out of Oklahoma drafted by the Cincy Bengals....Carson Palmer will be looking to throw the "seem" route to this guy to keep defenses that want to load up on WR Ochocinco and newly signed WR Antonio Bryant honest

Colt McCoy - QB out of Texas drafted by the Browns...natural QB instincts and abilities but will need improvement on arm strength and accuracy to pass either Jake Delhomme or Seneca Wallace on the depth chart this year....But he is their QB of the future

*AFC SOUTH*

Ben Tate - RB out of Auburn.....will have a chance to be in Rookie Of The Year conversation this season.....he is a "quick decision then run downhill" type of RB which is what the Texans ask of their backfield so expect a lot of playing time for Tate
